Book reviews

Dawid (Goodreads)

Captivating and humorous book about life in Norway from a foreigner’s point of view. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is contemplating moving to Norway and wants to understand or get a glimpse into the Norwegian way of living before moving to the land of “shy Vikings”.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This book is very enlightening about Norwegian culture, and helped me prepare my student exchange to Norway. It says a lot about how to move here, learn the language and travel.

Loved it. A quick fun and easy read. After living in Oslo myself for just over 2 years as a foreigner I understand where Lorelou is coming from. I love the country. I now call it home and never want to leave despite it not being perfect!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The book

With more than 11,000 copies sold, available in 4 languages and an international best-seller, this book, both hilarious and insightful, leads us to discover with delight lesser-known parts of Norway and Norwegians. It all begins when Lorelou, a young French-Canadian woman, settles in Oslo after landing a job there. This bubbly and funny book recounts Lorelou’s adventures during her first year in Norway. From her travels to the far north, which will take her to the Lofoten Islands and under the northern lights, to her comical and tender romantic misadventures, to learning about the Norwegian working world and language, Lorelou is determined to integrate.
